Governor Agbu Kefas attended a two-day High-Level Forum on the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and security in the Lake Chad region at the National Defence College, Abuja.

The theme of the forum was “Repositioning the MNJTF to Effectively Combat Evolving Threats in the Lake Chad Region.”

As a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Nigerian Army with experience in security and governance, the Governor joined other participants to discuss the changing threats from terrorist groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP, as well as other cross-border crimes.

The MNJTF, made up of forces from Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Benin, with Niger having suspended its participation, remains a key regional force for fighting terrorism and restoring peace in the Lake Chad Basin.

The two-day forum is expected to strengthen regional cooperation and improve joint efforts to tackle new security challenges in the region.
